‘I practiced the toss, it didn’t go well…’ : Ruturaj Gaikwad reveals ‘under pressure’ as CSK captain
On Wednesday, Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad lost the toss once again for the ninth time in 10 matches this season. Gaikwad was announced as the new captain of CSK on the eve of the IPL 2024 opener, replacing MS Dhoni. But in terms of toss, it didn’t work out for Gaikwad as lady luck always chose the opposition captain.
Punjab Kings captain Sam Curran won the toss and opted to field at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, which turned out to be the right decision as PBKS won by seven wickets. Chasing 163, Jonny Bairstow (46) and Riley Rossow (43) helped PBKS reach 163/3 in 17.5 overs. Early on, two wickets from Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar saw PBKS restrict CSK to 162/7 in 20 overs.
